FeedForge help

FeedForge: Supplier Sync · Last updated 16 October 2026

FeedForge keeps your Shopify catalog in step with your suppliers' feeds. Every change is shown in a dry run first, written only by a live run of the configuration that dry run tested, and can be undone. This page covers the basics; for anything else, write to us.

Getting started

  1. Create a profile for each supplier feed (Profiles → Add profile).
  2. Connect the feed: upload a file, or enter a URL, FTP or SFTP server.
  3. Map the feed's columns to Shopify fields. The preview shows the exact value every row will get.
  4. Choose which fields this supplier owns and set the guards.
  5. Run a dry run. It lists every change and writes nothing.
  6. When the dry run looks right, run live. A profile cannot run live before it has completed a dry run.

Feed formats and sources

FormatsCSV, TSV, Excel .xlsx, XML and JSON. Older Excel .xls files are not read: open them in Excel and save as .xlsx. Feeds may be zipped or gzipped.
SourcesFile upload; a URL (optionally with basic or header authentication over HTTPS); FTP; SFTP with a password or a private key. Uploads are for manual runs; a schedule needs a URL, FTP or SFTP source.

Matching feed rows to your variants

Each row is matched to a variant by an identity: SKU, barcode, variant ID, handle and options, or a variant metafield, with an optional fallback. Matching can ignore case, leading zeros, and a prefix or suffix. FeedForge indexes your catalog when it is installed and keeps the index up to date, so a dry run reports how many rows matched.

Fields, ownership and rules

A feed can update prices, compare-at prices, costs, inventory (per location), barcodes, weights, statuses, tags, product types, vendors, titles, descriptions, SEO fields, customs data, metafields and more. A profile only writes the fields it owns: everything else on your products is left alone, so two suppliers never overwrite each other. Rules clean values on the way in, for example turning a decimal comma into a point or adding a margin to a price.

Dry runs and guards

A dry run shows every planned change, row by row, with the value before and after. A live run executes the same configuration: if you change the mapping, rules or settings after the dry run, the confirmation says so. Guards stop a run before anything is written when it looks wrong: too large a price change, too many rows changing, too few rows matching, too many variants missing or too many products to create.

New products and missing variants

Rows that match no variant can be reported, or created as new products (draft by default), grouped into variants by a column you choose, with images, collections and a category. Variants missing from the feed can be left alone, set to 0 stock, or have their product set to draft or archived. Each of these is shown in a dry run before a live run may do it.

Undoing a run

Every live run stores the value it replaced. To undo one, open the run's report (from the profile's Runs tab or the Runs page) and choose Undo run…. The dialog lists what will be restored and warns about anything edited since; tick the confirmation and choose Undo run. Products the run created are archived or deleted, as you choose. An undo is a run of its own, so it can be undone too. Undo restores the whole run, not single rows.

Schedules

A profile can run live on a schedule (Settings tab) once it has completed a dry run. Schedule times are in your store's time zone (Shopify admin → Settings → General); the zone is fixed when you save the schedule, so save it again after changing the store's zone. A schedule that comes due while a run of the profile is still going is skipped until its next time. How often a schedule may run depends on your plan.

Deleting a profile

Delete a profile from its Settings tab. It stops running, its schedule is turned off and it no longer counts towards your plan. Nothing in your store changes. Its runs stay on the Runs page, and a live run of a deleted profile can still be undone there. A profile with a run in progress cannot be deleted until the run finishes.
